Birthday Wishes

A friend recently asked me to make a birthday card for a friend of hers.  I wanted to do something girlie and fresh looking.  I pulled some of my stash of The Girl's Paperie paper and layered it with some pink and yellow gingham.  I love gingham!  Reminds me of homespun fabric that I absolutely adore.  It adds such warmth to a home.

Anyway, I digress.  I added a paper doily that I distressed along with a blue ticket that I stamped "Wish!" on.  Used a tiny tag from Papertrey Ink and there ya have it.

A sweet little card for someone special.  Love the sentiment on the die cut.  So true.

I also want to share some pics of my garden flowers.  I love gardening.  Mostly in the spring and fall/winter when the weather isn't so blazing hot and humid.  The summer takes such a toll on the plants no matter what I do.  I always hate knowing I'll lose some.

This is our Desert Rose.  Flowers like crazy and super simple to care for.  Drought tolerant which is a huge plus.
My hanging geranium in red.  I've loved geraniums since I was a kid.  My Nana always had them growing in planters on her and Papa's porch.  The smell is so distinctive and it always brings back good memories.
Ah.. my hydrangea.  You wouldn't believe how I've babied this thing!  This is another fond memory from childhood at Nana and Papa's.  They had hydrangeas in blue and I always thought they were so pretty.  Wish I had them all around the house.  Maybe one day
Until next time,

Just Some This and That

I know I've been harping about fall lately.  Seems like I can't get it out of my head.  I am so ready for it.  With all these hot-hot days the country is having I think everyone is probably ready!

I've been seeing a lot of fall inspiration in the stores too.  This is when summer is tucked away and the season begins.  So when I was having a restless night recently I thought about all these little snippets of fall and what I wanted to do with them.  I have some cotton bags that I love to embellish.  They make cute little decorations all year long with different seasonal touches.

I pulled out one of the bags and added some fall whimsy.

I love all the different colors and sizes of the pumpkins!  So cute.  And the vines, leaves and berries add a sweet touch.  I weighted the bag so it would stand nicely on the table.  Then I added some wrinkle ribbon and a stamped tag tied with bakers twine.  The wrinkle ribbon is from PrairieBirdBoutique.  Love the colors from this little shop on Etsy.

Perfect for a little touch of autumn in the house.  Looks sweet decorating a fall table next to a place setting.  And these little bags could also be used as gifts for guests at a seasonal party.

More projects coming soon.  I've been working on a little Halloween and Christmas too.  The holidays are just around the corner!

Until next time,
